Dr. Andy Stefan Roth, MBA

Dr. Andy Stefan Roth is the founder of the firm.

His expertise includes all aspects of intellectual property law. Based on his legal and economic background Dr. Roth has experience in advising companies in establishing, developing and economically utilizing their IP-portfolios.

Prior to founding the firm, Dr. Roth served as General Counsel and Vice President Business Development of DIREVO Industrial Biotechnology GmbH and DIREVO Biotech AG. He advised DIREVO in all aspects of business development to cultivate partnerships and cooperations and in all legal & IP operations, sales & marketing.

Dr. Roth has managed, drafted and negotiated a number of strategic patent licenses and cooperation agreements. He successfully supported DIREVO Biotech AG in preparing and negotiating the EUR 210 Million sale of the pharmaceutical part of the company to Bayer Health Care AG and the parallel sale of the industrial biotechnology subsidiary to a group of financial investors.

Prior to DIREVO Dr. Roth served as a global manager for licensing & IP of QIAGEN GmbH where he was inter alia responsible for the out-licensing business and for the prosecution of QIAGEN’s proprietary technologies. Dr. Roth prepared and managed IP due diligence processes in several merger and acquisition transactions.

Prior to QIAGEN, Dr. Roth was in private practice at diverse law firms in Germany and in the US. He prosecuted patents and counseled clients in the fields of biological & chemical research, diagnostic & pharmacology, medical devices, as well as agricultural and industrial biotechnology. He gained experience drafting formal opinions of counsel, as well as coordinating IP strategies.

Dr. Roth has a scientific, legal and economic background. He received his Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of Heidelberg, Germany and his MBA at the Düsseldorf Business School. As a German and European patent, trademark and design attorney, Dr. Roth has wide experience in all aspects of intellectual property.

Dr. Roth actively conducts seminars, give lectures, and participate in various organizations and committees dealing in technology, intellectual assets, and intellectual property law.
